The Texas Civil Rights Project (TCRP) sought a shirt design that would embody their mission of defending civil rights while inspiring a hopeful vision of the future. Drawing from Mexican culture and linocut art, the design features a vibrant heart with a cactus rising, a nod to resilience and community roots. Hands beneath the heart symbolize collective support, while intricate elements inspired by Mexican embroidery represent TCRP’s four key programs: a voting box for Voting Rights, a dove for Criminal Injustice, and a monarch butterfly for Beyond Borders. The phrase “Tu lucha es mi lucha” (Your fight is my fight) crowns the design, reinforcing solidarity. This visually compelling piece serves as both a wearable statement and a call to action, encapsulating TCRP’s commitment to advocacy through a culturally resonant lens.
