Currently, finishing my MFA in Communication Design at Texas State University and expected to graduate in summer 2020 with a focus on social impact and to simplify public policy for people of color and the immigrant community. My skills range from brand identity, illustration, print, and more. I believe graphic design is a tool that can help tell your story and why you’re different.

I have experience speaking to large public audiences through numerous panels, Austin Design Week, AIGIA, TEDx, museums, and public institutions. Learn about my work in using art and design as a social tool for cultural resistance. Art should be accessible to document our history and build call to actions for our struggles.

Art and design is a social tool for the community and cultural resistance. I work with non-profits across the country to spread awareness on human rights, women empowerment, and civic engagement. By educating the community on how to use creative thinking, we can motivate our people to take action for a cause.

Lecture Synopsis

We all have tools and skills, so who you are and what you do with them is the difference. Join visual artist and designer Yocelyn Riojas as she discusses her upbringing on the border and her journey into cultural resistance.

To Hell With Good Intentions aims to break through the silence on the difference between our actions and good intentions when giving back to the community as designers or your everyday human being.

Fences, Families, and Futures goes into depth about Yocelyn’s projects and installations discussing the issues with immigration and empowerment in cultural identity. You will get to learn how her work has achieved national recognition and view other collaborations in simplifying public policy.
