Black Lives Matter: Useful Tips (And Tool) to Host an Online Fundraiser ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Fundraising online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s 2020 and the year has been rough for many of us. We are having to learn how to re-navigate the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes our daily lives, hustles, relationships, mental health, and community organizing.

As an activist myself I felt the same fatigue you did being confined to my home and not feeling safe enough to step out my front door. Media consumption did not help relieve anxiety neither did feeling stagnant watching the outcry of the world against police brutality in support of the Black Lives Matter movement

According to The New York Times, “This is the biggest collective demonstration of civil unrest around state violence in our generation’s memory. The unifying theme, for the first time in America’s history, is at last: Black Lives Matter.”

Seeing everyone around the world stand in protest I wanted to find a way to get involved too.

If you’re like me sitting at home feeling powerless over the situation do not worry. There are still ways to help support the Black Lives Matter movement.

We all live via internet which means we can research and Google!

Starting a T-Shirt Campaign for Black Lives Matter

As an activist in creative resistance, I collaborated with my good friend Vic and the Personas Collective. We wanted to find a way to use our design and illustration skills to support the Black Lives Matter movement. Thus in the spur of the moment we created the Estamos Unidos T-Shirt Campaign using Bonfire.

100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will support Black Lives Matter and their efforts during these times.

If you wish to host your own fundraiser Bonfire let’s you donate directly to your chosen non-profit.

With only two week left still we’re projected to surpass our original goal. Thank you everyone for their continuous support.

The Neue-Black Font History

We incorporated the neue-black font created by Vocal Type Co., based on the signage of Martin Luther King Jr’s and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Chicago Freedom Movement, a campaign that marked the expansion of their civil rights activities from the South to northern cities.

This font set the tone and served as a starting point for our collaboration. Cuando ESTAMOS UNIDOS, nada nos puede detener.

How to Host an Online T-Shirt Fundraiser

If you have a limited budget or lacking in supplies or time you have the option to host an online campaign to raise funds for your chosen non-profit.

I used Bonfire an easy to use platform which helps you raise money for your community by selling custom shirts.

Perfect for individuals, groups, causes and non-profits. No inventory needed — they do all the work!

Watch the video below to get the breakdown on how to use Bonfire.
